update from GALT

Dear Beryl,

Update on GALT's 10 surviving FWAC seizure greys:

Charlie - A tumor was found in Charlie's right ear canal, which was removed October 1 by Dr. Greg Arnold of the Dallas Surgical Center. The mass in his ear dictated a total ear canal ablation. Results have been received which show this is a low grade malignant ceruminous gland adenocarcinoma. Dr. Arnold states that the tumor excision was complete, and the surgery should be curative. Charlie is in a lot of pain at this time, and he is being closely monitored by his foster parents.

Max - Max's current bloodwork shows him to be PCR negative for all tick borne diseases as well as heartworm negative. He is going forward with his neuter, dental and balance of his medical procedures on Thursday, October 7.

Nate - Nate's bloodwork will be submitted on Friday, October 8, to determine his health status and if he is ready to go forward with the balance of his medical procedures.

Nicole - Nicole's warts are shrinking, and she is proceeding with her Imizol injections as scheduled.

Pico - Pico continues to be under the care of Dr. Doug Bronstad for meningitis. Dr. Bronstad has added an antibiotic to her medical regime; Pico lost several pounds since her last visit. Efforts are being made to fatten this little girl up! Her energy level is exuberant.

Ella - Ella had two growths removed on September 30, which have been diagnosed as mast cell tumors from the biopsies submitted. Ella is being referred to an Oncologist for further consultation and possible treatment.

Red - Red is continuing in his treatments for Ehrlichia, Babesia and internal parasites.

Sweet Pea - Sweet Pea is continuing in her treatments for Ehrlichia, Babesia, Lyme disease and internal parasites.

Delilah - Delilah has received her third set of puppy vaccinations and is being treated again for internal parasites.

Bessie - Bessie has received her third set of puppy vaccinations and is being treated again for internal parasites.

All of these procedures have been very costly for GALT. The support shown by the greyhound community is much appreciated, and as you see, definitely needed. Thank you for your continued generous help with GALT's greyhounds.
