Everything Greyhound > Greyhound 911 > Murphy is limping

Posted by: TheBigBoys Feb 7 2011, 09:56 PM
So my big boy is limping and won't put weight on his back left leg, there is also a hard lump on the ankle bone. We have a vet appointment at 7:00 tomorrow night but I have to say I have a very bad feeling about this. Please say some prayers for my big old sweet boy, I think he is going to need them. Geez I love my big red boy.

Sending prayers. Milky sometimes gets a swelling like a hard golf ball on her back leg. One time it was the size of a softball. She had this 3 times and the vet had to drain it.

Bless both of your hearts. I hate when I hear about stuff like this. I'm praying its just arthritus. Same thing happened last summer with Jack...it was arthritus...but I've been the osteo path too.
Its not going to be that & that's all there is to it. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh116/KKtagShop/Smileys/hug.gif

Sorry guys it took me so long to let you know that Murphy's xray of his foot and ankle was clear, she said the hard lump on his ankle looked like some scar tissue http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a60/dad2paisley/smileys/cheer.gif. My vet actually thinks it may be a soft tissue injury along with arthritus in his hip.He is on medication for a week to see if there is any improvement, if not an xray of his hip will be done to rule out anything else. I know he has struggle a bit on the hard frozen snow in the back yard, he will be 11 next month so I have to keep in mind that he may have slipped a little to cause the injury, I am always on the patio when they are out but I think from now on when the yard is frozen I will take him out on the leash. Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers for my big red boy, I believe they were a big help. We have had many greyhounds in a 20 year span and have loved each and everyone of them, but Murphy is my heart dog.
