Everything Greyhound > Greyhound 911 > Milky needs prayers

Posted by: dad2paisley Apr 23 2011, 12:59 PM
Milky was doing so well on Thursday and then on Friday.
Milky has turned for the worst and we had to rush her to the vet.
The vet took x-rays and she has a mass near her liver.
Also, her blood platelet count is low.

Milky really needs some prayers but with the mass and her age of 11 we don't know if she could handle the surgery for this.

They are trying to get her blood count and dehyration back up and see if that will get us to the next step.

New Update

Trish called the vets. No change in Milky's condition from yesterday.

Oh No!!! This isn't what I expected to hear. Lots of prayers going out to Milky.

update from Trish.

Milky's coming home tonight!!! Talked to the vet just now. Her blood work is really looking good. Said her ALT was almost 600 on Friday and now it's back down in the 180's. A good number. She can't really explain why Milky was so sick. If it was the mass we saw on the x-ray her liver numbers shouldn't have come back to close to normal. We're keeping her on all the drugs she's been on and slowly weaning her off one at a time and hope she stays feeling good. Also, pills for her liver.

Will do Liz.

Milky is still doing good. Today she had a great poo and the Big D was gone.

She is still eating very well. She doesn't like rice too much, but we mixed dog food in it.

She is getting good food to eat, oatmeal, chicken breast, and other varieties.

We are going to start mixing in little bits of kibble each day now since her poo is better.

Milky is still doing good. We feed her anytime she is hungry. She lost 12lbs so we are trying to put the weight back on her. It's a slow process. Her cut is healing nicely.

How is she doing?

Posted by: dad2paisley May 12 2011, 08:15 PM
She is doing fine. She did have a spill last week while walking down the steps and got a cut right on her front leg elbow. She was limping for a while but we called the vet and they told us what to continue to do.
Today, no limp and the little cut is almost gone. She was also playing us, cause when it was dinner time, she ran to her bowl. Trish said this morning she was demanding food just like usual.

Milky at her last vet checkup everything is great, bloodwork, etc. Milky is now up to 61.8lbs! We like to have her around 72-74lbs. That's where she was before she got ill. biggrin.gif

Milky is doing great. She's been getting more short walks and hanging out in the dog run with the other pups. We're still giving here exercise for her back legs, to get them back to full strength.

Trish called and said Milky has a bruise on her whole leg and it's swelling. Her Aunt who was home with the pups didn't see or hear Milky do anything.

Off to the vet when I get home.
