Mulberry - a Special Needs Girl
Mulberry is a tiny blue girl, barely 50 pounds and just 2 years old. When NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue, Inc. went to pick her up in mid June, they thought that she was recovering from a common urinary tract infection. During the trip home, they realized that Mulberry had more serious issues.
Mulberry is prone to recurrent urinary tract infections and her problems stem from the fact that she cannot eliminate normally and has little control over her bowels and bladder. NEOGR needs to keep her on a low dose of antibiotics to ward off infections. All of the medical tests, x-rays, blood work and neurological testing that's been done so far have been normal or inconclusive. Next steps may involve an MRI and holistic medicine.
You see, little Mulberry doesn't realize she's having accidents. When she gets up from a resting position, she either pee's, poops or both. A young girl at age 2 should have good control in that area. Little Mulberry doesn't so her foster parents use doggie panties lined with human incontinence pads to keep Mulberry as clean and dry as possible. They take her out to potty at frequent intervals throughout the day and night but Mulberry still has frequent accidents. Her foster parents are constantly changing pads and washing her panties and bedding.
Mulberry has touched lives in so many ways. Her sweet face will melt the hardest hearts. NEOGR hopes they can resolve her medical issues and that she will be able to find her forever home someday. If not, she has a permanent place in NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue's program with her loving foster parents if need be. NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue, Inc. can always use donations of doggie panties, baby diapers, incontinence pads, gently used blankets/towels, laundry detergent and/or bleach. If you would like to donate those items, you can contact NEOGR (http://members.petfinder.com/~OH550/index.php) directly.
