ASFA National Greyhound Specialty
The 5th running of the ASFA National Greyhound Specialty will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Texas Rose Horse Park near Tyler, Texas. It will be hosted by a new ASFA club, the Border of Louisiana Sighthound Troupe (BLSHT). Several members of the club, including Dana Jensen and Mike Ferris, are longtime lure coursers and veterans of several Greyhound Specialties.
The running ground will be a big, 25 acre field with slightly uphill terrain. Drag lure will be used. Judges will be Jack Downing and Karen Arends.
There will be a conformation competition at the mid-day lunch break, judged by Greyhound racing trainer and kennel operator John Dalton, who is originally from Ireland and got his start in Greyhounds in coursing.
There will be a Specialty banquet on Saturday evening.
Sunday will feature a LGRA Greyhound Specialty race meet.
As a new club, BLSHT has a small treasury, so your donations for trophies and prizes are especially important this year. Please send your trophy donation check payable to BLSHT to Dana Jensen at 2267 CR 406, McKinney TX 75071
The ASFA National Greyhound Specialty has consistently attracted the best lure coursing Greyhounds in the nation, and with a venue this year in the middle of the country, we hope our Western friends will be able to turn out in large numbers. Please mark your calendars now, and plan to join us for a great weekend of Greyhound sport
A personnal note-
If you ever wanted to see a coursing event this the one to watch, it's ALL Greyhound ! Past years have seen over 40 GHs entered in the coursing with some also entered in the Conformation Show.
