Let me Introduce Deliliah, She is a Staghound picked up by animal control in Lubbock, TX about three weeks ago. Our adoption coordinator up there got her out and to our Vet. She was positive for TBD and needed worming. When she is completely well she will be transported via GUR to her forever home in Ohio.

Hi, my name is Deliliah. I am a retired coyote hunter. Well Kinda, sorta, Ya see I got too old to hunt and they literally turned me out to pasture. Cept that pasture was just the wide open ranges or West Texas/ New Mexico. Ya see we don’t have no retirement program like you greyhound have…There aint no such thing as a “Retired Coyote Hunter Adoption Group.” Anyway I managed to survive several weeks on rabbits and Prairie dogs and such but not much water. I stayed away from the coyotes…they put up a pretty good fight and I was gettin pretty sick and weak. Then some folks found me and took me to A Place for Us Greyhounds Adoption Group…Well I AM Part greyhound!...On my mama’s side, (I think) we don’t know what my daddy was (aint that always the way) Cept he was probably Wolfhound or Deerhound which makes me a Staghound or “Coyote Dog” as I am the preferred breed for serious Coyote Hunting.

I had some little bugs living inside and outside of me and that is what was making me sick and weak…We have got rid of them little critters now and I am doing some better. Who’ed thought that after surviving numerous scrapes with coyotes it would be some little bug that almost did me in.

I know you full hot blood greyhounds must have a lot of fun chasin that lure around the track for 500-600 yards, but just try chasing a coyote for 700-800 yards knowin that when you catch him you are going to have to kill him before he kills you… Not a lot of fun,… but I was one of the better ones…. How do I know? Cause I am still here!

Ya see the fatality rate of coyote hunters is pretty high. I survived several scrapes with coyotes and managed to always come away with just some scares and a chunk out of my left ear.

Things should be gettin better for me now; they tell me I am going to a place called Ohio to live with a lady who writes books. She’ll have plenty time to interview me in case she want to write about me….Well probably not,… I think people only like to read about nice pretty things… My life aint been all that nice and pretty, but it should be getten better now.

Hello All.
We are greyhound pet owners; we have two, Roustabout who raced at Corpus Christie until the track closed, and Nikki, who raced out at Phoenix. We are adoption group volunteers for A Place For Us Greyhounds, and I also enter Southland races on GD. com.

Bill.
