Flower, the lost Afghan hound in Newark, OH is still missing. Sightings
have allowed us to create the map below. We haven't had enough volunteers
at any one time to prevent her from trotting from one area to another to
avoid detection. So, we are planning a large scale effort this Saturday!
If you can help, please contact Maureen Anderson (AHRCO) at 614-747-0795, or
Betty Salmon (AHCA hotline) at 614-844-3834 to coordinate. It's been almost
two weeks; and while we hear reports of neighborhood sightings they haven't
been in real time, so she continues to elude searchers. Call 740-973-5297
if you have an actual sighting.

The area is perhaps 2 square miles, with streets circled on the left and
woods circled on the right.

Please help if you can! The weather forecast is for more rain, a cold
front, and snow in the next few days. Flower is a gray brindle color. Her
coat is medium length (not full show coat but not short puppy cut). She was
wearing a teal collar.

Update on Flower - YEAH!!! Finally a credible sighting. Today, Sue Allison Roberts and I were papering a new area on the opposite site of rte 13 when a woman came rushing out of her home waving the flyer in her hand and screaming at us, " I saw your dog!!!. I questioned her to be sure it was Flower and she was absolutely positve so Flower was seen on Buckingham between Selby and Wallace around 3pm Saturday. We searched the area for the next hour or so, but had to leave for other committments. Jody, Mike, Nikki, and Kristi are now out patrolling the area with Nova in the car, ready for that next sighting. For the first time since this nightmare began, we feel that the sighting is valid, that we are in the right place, that she is close. The woman who saw her said she appeared in good health, was not limping and did not appear to be starving. Sadly, Flower ran from that woman when she approached her..

Jody just got a call and is now on her way... Flower was seen 2 nights ago at the Pizza place 2-3 blocks from the Grocery store on E. Main st, the same place Nikki works and the same place she has been numerous times as a puppy. The woman who called did not know that the wet bedraggled dog she saw was lost until reading the Newark Advocate tonite. This witness described the dog she saw in the parking lot as having a "Llama like neck and she moved like a Lipizzaner stallion. Setting the trap at the Pizza place tonite. Hope is with us again.

‎2 new Flower sightings. She was seen approx 1pm running down the fence line at the cemetery by the husband of one of Jody's employees. He has seen Jody's dogs and knows what afghan hounds look like. The 2nd sighting is a bit weird but could be possible. Caller said Flower was running down Kibler about 3.30pm. This is possible - it would be pretty much a straight run up Manning, cut through a few yards, down Elizabeth St and a right turn onto Kibler - the distance is approx 1.5 miles. We were minutes away when the call came but could find any sign of her in the area. Trap is moved to the cemetery. Working to obtain a 2nd trap.

new sighting report -A young man reports seeing her on Saturday evening at the end of Nikki's street. He said he was close enough to reach out and touch her, but didn't know she was a lost dog. I'm beginning to think Flower knows where home is, but is still having fun on her big adventure.

From the facebook site:

AfghanHound Rescue Central Ohio

And on a more positive note - Flower was seen again 2 days ago being leash walked by the same man. Volunteers are patroling the area in search of a male who is described as shaved head, approx 5'10", medium build who walks regularly in the area of Hudson/North/Mt Vernon Rd. If you live in Newark, please watch for this person with Flower Afghan and contact Jody immediately should you see them. 740-973-5298
