I have a question.

Ike has been hanging out more in his crate when we are home. The crate door is open so he can go in and out.

Trish says he is going in there so he can have some space.

Since we have Remy, who is still a puppy and does his puppy crazy thing and Bear is still puppish as well, guess Ike doesn't want to get stepped on?

What do you think?

I agree with both ideas. When they get older or even when they're younger, they like their space. Some nights I look over at the open crate & there's someone in there, be it greyhound or cat. I used to leave the crates in the kennel room open, and I'd go back there & there might be 3 cats in there sleeping.
The puppy part, yep I agree too. Pipi & Gabby who were 2 yrs apart were okay with the younger fosters, when they were outside. But these whipper snappers would take the bed. That made Pipi mad. Then they took her spot on the rug. So she got to where she'd get in an open crate. Gabby got on my bed....and she'd growl if anyone got up there besides Jack. So yeah I think they like their space & they sure don't like being stepped on.
Snowy also used to go get in the closet when she wanted to be alone.

Ike had sleep aggression and sometimes he will snap if he is sleeping and you get to close to him.

Last night I caught him roaching in his crate. His legs where up so high.

I have a cute little white female greyhound named Sizzler Drive, Sizzy for short. As soon as she walked in the door, she went straight for the open crate & made it hers. She had just been spayed so I think she was feeling alittle sore & wanted to be left alone. She's now found the doggie bed & made that hers also.
She likes to walk around the yard vs running, likes to lay in the grass, eat carrots & play with Thurles' blue fishy. I think she thinks its one of her puppies (she's a broodie with 18 children).
Here's a picture of her.
