WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The U.S. Postal Service says it is aiming to boost stamp sales by waiving the rule requiring stamp honorees to be deceased for at least five years.

The Postal Service said it is planning to have living people appear on stamps provided they have "made enduring contributions to the United States of America," The Washington Post reported Monday.

Officials said they are encouraging customers to submit their Top 5 favorite picks for stamp honorees at http://www.facebook.com/USPSStamps of @USPSStamps on Twitter.
