Soon, once we sell our 2 houses, we are going to be moving out of Maryland. We like to move to a state where the taxes are lower, lower crime and an area where we could buy a farm to live. I been thinking about either these places, Indiana, Oklahoma, Pa, and Florida.

I want to start my second career as a farmer, yep with a big tractor and work on the land and not have to deal with demanding people. Also, would have a farmer's market to sell my produce. Also, have a christmas tree farm, pick your pumpkins, straberries etc. Have a big barn for our cats to live, a few dog runs and turnout areas.

Where we live now, there is no farm land left and is very expensive place to live.

Any thoughts would be great.

I grew up in Mo, the mid west is tornado alley. Ok has it's share of them, that's just life there.
We lived in the Caribbean & Key West for many many years and have seen our share of hurricanes. We moved to the mainland 5 years ago after living thru hurricanes for to many years. We're about 60 miles inland, we still can get some high winds & rain. But nothing like being on the coast or on a island down south.
I spent 5 weeks in WV last Jan/Feb, I don't know how you all deal with the snow & cold every year. BRRRRRRRR ! The morning I departed it was 10 degrees with snow on the ground.

Good Luck with your search

Pat

I know every year, the cold and snow I can't stand. And last year was the tipper. Over 80+ inches and a blizzard every 4 days. Yuk.
I use to love the cold when I was younger and the snow but not now. It's a pain to get to work, shovel and the bitter winds.
I like a warmer climate so that is why N. FL could be a possibility. We've had more tornado warnings here in MD this summer more then in the past, so these things can happen anywhere. We also had a water spout tornado in Annapolis too.

Thanks for all your help. More is welcomed.. :D
