LOST DOG - Please Help (Staten Island)

Denver got out of the yard at 10pm on Saturday night (8/7/10). We have been searching for him non-stop, posting flyers and checking with our local shelters daily. If you've seen him in your area, please let us know. He is very quick and probably cannot be caught. We miss him terribly and are very worried. Any help you could offer would be much appreciated. Thank you. (917) 703-5994

Lucia contacted sanitation today in case he was found in the road but they do not keep records of any animals that are picked up. It's possible someone may have him.

To All Who Reached Out To Help,

I just wanted to send you an unfortunate update. A man by the name of Jeffrey called me yesterday. He works for the Dept. of Sanitation and believes that he may have picked-up Denver last week. He's not entirely sure, because it was dark and the dog had been repeatedly run over. All he could discern is that it was a "small greyhound with stripes". I really want to believe that he's mistaken, but this is the only response we've had. He also knew that Denver was unaltered; information that I had withheld from the flyers and faxes.

Although heartbroken by this information, we have been greatly comforted by the kindness and assistance we've received in these past 12 days. Knowing that there were others empathizing with us alleviated a lot of the frantic hopelessness. For that and for so much more, we thank you.

My Very Best Regards,
Lucia

DENVER IS ALIVE

Denver is alive and well in New Jersey !

He was plucked from the river by a good sam and has been taken care of every since.

We dont have all the details yet, but he is just fine and the owner has been notified.

You can read the whole meal deal at:

Whippet Missing in Staten Island, NY 8/7/10
You can find the whole story at:
http://www.whippetworld.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7383

and on Facebook at the whippet rescue page

Denver has been missing for one month.
