SHORTER, AL (WIAT)---Alabama's last standing public casino is back in the game. After three days of closure, VictoryLand has reopened.
However, it's not quite the same as before.
VictoryLand is up and running, but now there is no electronic bingo. The only thing that remains is greyhound and simulcast racing.
Thursday afternoon, the parking lot was near empty and overall, not many people showed up, which could be due to the fact the machines are no longer inside.
Governor Bob Riley believes the machines are illegal. But VictoryLand Owner Milton McGregor says there is nothing unlawful about them.
Meantime, the nearby hotel “The Oasis” remains closed. Click on the video to the right for more information.
