Gosh...April 1999, I went to MSGAO to pick out a greyhound. I met this big red brindle named Pegasus, I wanted him. He was already spoken for by a nursing home. Instead I took home Snowy, a true fawn female...totally opposite of what I was looking for. Snowy was so sweet, so reserved & preferred laying on my bed than accompanying me outside or anywhere else for that matter. Then in September I decided I wanted someone to keep Snowy company. I called the adoption kennel & Sandy said I've got just the one for you. I walked in the kennel area & she lets out this big red brindle...it was Pegasus, he had been returned because one of the patients at the nursing home tried to choke him so he bit her. He came home with me!!! That was September 6, 1999.
We had a great life together. He was one of those that wanted to be #1, unfortunately he shared a home with other greyhounds & we had some not so happy moments, several trips to the Evet for stitches. But I never gave up. In the end, he learned to get along.
Then in the early hours of September 6, 2006...he left me. With his head in my lap, me sitting on the floor of my bedroom, the light literally went out of his eyes. It was 4:45am.
He was buried quietly early that morning at the edge of the woods, overlooking a pond at a friend of mine's place. Now next to him is Snowy, Dear, BuyCut, Gogh & Halo. Racer is buried nearby. My friends have saved that spot just for my dogs. Their Golden puppy was buried in Snowy's grave since she was so tiny when she died. That's what good friends do.
I still have good thoughts of Pegasus, he was such a hoot. I have lots of good memories & lots of beautiful pictures. I've never met another one like him. He had such a beautiful coat.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Pegasus
This was taken in August 2006, we were at a day care at UT Medical. He loved kids.

This is one of my very favorites. I had put in laminent floors & no one knew what to do...instead of laying on the hard floor, until I could get the beds back down, he crawled up in this office chair.
Island of dogs...
What a greyt profile
