Trish had Bear and Lincoln in our run today and he didn't even run, Lincoln did and Trish noticed some blood on Bears toe. He somehow pulled out a dew claw.
So, Trish got them in the house and bandaged it.
Trish also called the vet and since we have an appt. tonight with Ike we're going to bring Bear along and let the vet look at it and maybe give us some antibodies to give Bear.
Is missing dew claws a problem for greyhounds and do they grow back?

Mardy came with no dew claws. I asked our vet to remove Gracie's, because they kinda stick out to the side. It would be easy to catch on something. Vet said it's better to leave them alone unless they need to come out. I don't think Bear's will grow back. He should be ok, I just know it has to be painful. Poor Bear.

One of ours had his dew claws removed shortly after been whelped, and second had his removed at 14 mo old, the rest crew still have them. None of the removed claws has regrown, we did have one break one his in half a few months ago. So far the claw is growing back without any problems.
Either way once the area is healed the pup shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks all. The vet looked at it and it was broken halfway off but the vet said it should grow back. Bear has some antibodies to take.

When we got Lincoln as a pup he had no dew claws.
