Blue (short for Blueberry) escaped from the dog sitter on 9/16/2010 in Emporia, KS. She was spotted at 1:30 PM on 9/16 by the dog sitter's neighbor on Rural Street headed west towards Prairie Street.

Blue's a 7 year old spayed female blue brindle with a white chest. She was wearing her collar when she got loose (brown with blue pawprints) which had her ID tag and her rabies tag on it. Tattoos: left ear is 17862 and right ear is 23B. She is microchipped as well with a HomeAgain chip. She is super shy and skittish.

Animal Control, local vets, local police and sherriffs depts, local shelters, state greyhound rescues, etc have all been contacted. Notices are out on the radio and local TV station. Flyers are circulating. Lost dog ads are in the local newspaper. Lost dog notice on Craigs List for the area. HomeAgain did a mass e-mail of all registered users of HomeAgain chips in the area.

Worked the area on foot yesterday. Talked to everyone we could chase down. Went through a lot of fliers and color photos.

We had previously had two sightings from last Thurs. And yesterday I managed to find a few more people who sighted her--one from Friday, one from Sat, one from Sun or Mon, and one on an unknown day.

She does seem to be staying in a couple block radius which is only a couple blocks from where she went missing.

Unfortunately, the dog sitter couldn't track down anyone she knew that lives in the center of the area Blue's been sighted in. But she did find someone on either side of the area who was willing to put up feeding stations. Left scented blankets as well. The dog sitter is walking the area every morning and evening as well, continuing to hand out pictures and fliers to anyone she can find.

The earliest I can get back down there is Sun. Going to see about talking to some people about a trap...and see if I can get the city on board with letting me put it out.

I am glad to know at least that she didn't book it out of town!

I did seem to figure out how to put everything on Google maps. The marked areas are the ones I did yesterday. I know the dog sitter has done more, but I gave her map back to her yesterday. :)

She's not captured yet. Though was finally able to convince the local paper to do a feature on her...which was then picked up by a regional TV news station. I think the entire state of KS now has my cell phone number. Have managed to pick up a few more sightings. The most recent was on Friday. The guy said overall she looked good though has lost her collar (which I expected). Unfortunately when he saw her, she was being chased by several young children and she disappreared from sight pretty quick. I lost a fair amount of my ground crew, but we're doing what we can to still cover the area on foot. Still hoping to bring her home.
