From the NGA site-

The top sire on the Sire Standings, Dodgem By Design, died Friday, Sept. 24, said his owner Cary Alsobrook.

“There aren’t enough words to express what a wonderful Greyhound Dodgem By Design has been from the very beginning, until he died,” Alsobrook said in an e-mail.

Dodgem By Design (Gable Dodge-Cruzin By Design) was whelped in January 2000. He was whelped and trained by Rod and Sue Boatright. He was purchased at the NGA Auction for $24,000 after winning the January 3 Stake.

“The idea was to select the top male in the litter, and we (Rodney Cooley) both agreed it was Dodgem,” Alsobrook said. “History has proven this to be a good decision, both on and off the track. All of us know that Rodney Cooley took him under his wing to continue his training and accomplished what most of us dream of.”

Dodgem went to Derby Lane where he won the Sprint Classic against All-Americans Talentedmrripley and Kiowa Sweet Trey. He also won the Matinee Idol Feature and ran fourth in the T.L. Weaver Memorial. He was a finalist in two other stake races.

Upon retirement Dodgem By Design went to the stud farm of Kenneth Biehle and was a success crossing with the Molotov and other HB’s Commander lines.

In 2009 Dodgem By Design became the number one sire on the Sire Standings and should hold onto that spot for the final 2010 standings.

He sired one All-American to date, Ten For Tee, winner of the Bluffs Run Open. He has sired many stake winners. Two of his offspring, Okie Morris and CT Buck Wild, were Southland Derby winners. Two offspring won the rich Fall Futurity at The Woodlands, Designer Trophy and Tapco Karalexis.

Other offspring winning stake races of $50,00 or more are: BD’s Henry, Van’s Escalade, Look My Way, Atascocita Clove, D’s Buddy, PG Tiger and Bow Laidthelaw.
