Bless his heart...Jack is such a good natured old man. He's 10 1/2...his arthritus bothers him & all he wants to do is be next to hims momma & sleep.
So last night he's on his futon pad that's beside my bed. Here comes Kandy & he got up to move & evidently stepped on her & she snapped at him. I turned on the light & all was okay, so we went back to bed after I put her in a crate.
This morning about 4:30 Gabby woke me up to go outside, this is usual stuff, and I saw Jack in the kitchen shivering. He had a 1 1/2 inch gapping hole in his flank. Poor sweet fella. I washed it off with peroxide & I should've warmed the stuff, he gasped.
I went ahead & stayed up with him & then took him to the vet. Dr B came out & got him & took care of him all day long.
It was 16 this morning, so needless to say he wore a coat I had gotten from Halo's owner. He got alot of compliments on it too.
He's home now, laying on my bed waiting on his dinner, which its time now for me to serve. I just wanted ya'll to know he's okay.

So glad Jack is okay, he reminds me of my old guy who will be 11 in March, from your picture they could even be the same color. Jack sounds like such a sweetie, I love the big old guys

Thought I'd give ya'll an update on Jack. I took him back the following week & got his shots & his teeth cleaned. While he was under they took a hermangioma off his tail & a mole off his hind leg. Both got stitches.
Dr Blackburn called me that night to let me know the mass on his tail was B9 which is one of favorite numbers. He said hermangioma & hermangio sarcoma are 2 different things although they're both blood vessel tumors. I've lost 2 to HS (as some of ya'll may remember 3 yrs ago).
He said sometimes the hermangiomas come back, but most of the time they don't. IF this one comes back in the same place, we may just amp the tail with some clean margins.
Jack is such a wonderful guy, he has pulled out 2 of the stitches, but he doesn't bother the tail spot at all. And his bite from Kandy is practically healed closed. :cheer:
Oh, here's Jack & Kandy

I just took this...Jack (center) Banker (left) and Gabby are all napping on the futon. I love those things, you can pull them out & at least 5 dogs can sleep on them at once.
Anyway, Jack says thank you all for the hugs, kisses & prayers.

Jack is so funny. I had to run an errand for my sister Pat; she has an LLC & in Tennessee they're supposed to pay like $100 a year for it. So my pastor is also a cpa, so he filled out a form for her & I went by the church & got it, then went to FedEx & dropped it off for her.
So w hile I'm on the phone with Big Rob, Jack is barking in the background. Big Rob has this little poodle named Choco & he & Jack are buds. He could hear Jack barking so Choco started barking & it was like they were talking on the phone.

QUOTE (TheBigBoys @ Dec 29 2010, 09:33 PM)
I have never met Jack but I just love him  :aww:

I'm going to post you some pictures of Jack & tell you his story.
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/snowy8/Oct09401.jpg)
I met Jack (Rcs Jack Flash) I think it was 2003. I can't remember (shame on me). He was in the 3rd top crate on the right as you entered the room of the adoption kennel at Southland. He was vicious. He snarled, he snapped, he barked, he never blinked, he never lost eye gaze. We would steer people away from him. The turn around girls were afraid of him so they were careful when they opened his crate door & quickly put his muzzle on. I even said You should have this dog put to sleep, he's going to bite someone's face off & then you're going to have a law suit.
Well the joke was on me & everyone else. Soon (about 6 months later) it was discovered that when you opened his crate, he was a big ole puppy.
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/snowy8/Jul12823.jpg)
BUT no one knew it except 2 people. The 2nd person decided to take him home & he was with her about a week & then one of her neighbors said he'd report her for having 2 dogs. So she brought him back. I thought that was so unfair so I said I'd take him home with me. I'd work with him & if anyone came in & said they wanted to adopt him, I'd let him go. Well no one ever did.
Bless his heart, he barks super loud, but he means nothing by it. Its all talk.
One night, I was fixing their dinner & BuyCut (Ya'll remember him) came in & just bit Jack's ear off. He bled like a stuck hog...he never tried to defend himself. Luckily my vet was still there & told me to bring him in quickly. I left him there & he actually stayed 2 days because a leader was cut & he lost alot of blood. He has a short ear now. Kind of like Nemo with his special fin, Jack has a special ear.
This is before:(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/snowy8/Jul01655.jpg)
This is the only one I have of after...I need to take more pictures of his special ear.
(IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v398/snowy8/122610j.jpg)
Jack turned 10 yrs old in June...up until then he never showed his age. While trying to keep up with Bob Foster, he flaired up his arthritus & gave me a huge scare in July. Xrays showed its only arthritus. Recently he had a hermangioma taken off his tail & my vet assured me those are B9...our favorite Bingo number. Otherwise, Jack has been the healthy greyhounds I think I have ever had.
And I did get to see inside his mouth the other day...they did take some of the big ones, but he can still chatter. hugz
